Where to Play, Where to Gamble, What to See, Where to Shop, What to Do...In Palm Springs...

 

Palm Springs is not only known for great weather and mid-century architecture.   GOLFING is a major attraction here offering some beautiful fairways and breathtaking views.  Each year BNP PARIBAS OPEN (tennis), draws a major attraction to Indian Wells.  If you are wanting to try your luck at the casinos, there is SPA RESORT CASINO in Palm Springs, AGUA CALIENTE CASINO in Rancho Mirage, FANTASY SPRINGS RESORT CASINO in Indio, to name a few.   In addition, there are hiking trails for all levels, camping sites, horseback riding trails, botanical gardens, many local health clubs (gyms), pilates and yoga studios, spas, great restaurants, cafes, bars, nightclubs, movie theaters, live theater, shopping, museums, and so much more. 

 

If you appreciate art, check out the exhibits at PALM SPRINGS ART MUSEUM, for music lovers, see who is performing at COACHELLA VALLEY MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL, and STAGECOACH - "California's Country's Music Festival," and for film and theater buffs, click on PALM SPRINGS FILM FESTIVAL and  MCCALLUM THEATRE.

 

Take a CELEBRITY TOUR which offers an insight into the world of the rich and famous by including stops in front of Frank Sinatra's former 2.3 acre compound, Bob Hope's former hilltop home with its 17 bathrooms, and a dining area that seats 300 people, and the former estates of roughly 25 movie stars, including Cary Grant, Lucille Ball and Dezi Arnaz, Liberace, and Dinah Shore and her husband, actor George Montgomery.

 

Every Thursday evening in downtown Palm Springs starting around 5pm is VILLAGE FEST - a year-round open air night street fair featuring over 180 vendors featuring arts, crafts, food, and entertainment.  For the more thrill seekers, take a HOT AIR BALLOON ride above the desert.  Or enjoy taking the ARIAL TRAM to the top of the mountain with an elevation of 8,500 feet and where temperatures are around 30 degrees cooler (which is great during summertime).   For snow lovers, look to the top of the mountain to see if snow has fallen - usually starting in December. 

 

No trip to the desert is complete without shopping and dining on EL PASEOLuxury retailers include Saks Fifth Avenue, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Escada, Tiffany, Baccarat, Apple, Burberry, and so much more!  There are many art galleries, and fine eateries, including, Wilma & Frieda's Cafe (currently ranked #1 on Tripadvisor), Mastro's Steakhouse, Tommy Bahama's Restaurant & Bar, and more.

 

If outlet shopping is more your passion - located just 20 minutes west of Palm Springs off of I-10, you will find DESERT HILLS PREMIUM OUTLETS with currently180 premium stores, including Alexander McQueen, Tom Ford, Burberry, Coach, Gucci, and Prada...just to name a few.  Next to Desert Hills Premium Outlets, you will find CABAZON OUTLETS with 18 speciality retailers including Tommy Bahamas, Adidas, Puma, Oakley, and more.  You will undoubtedly find some great deals!

 

For a day or an overnight excursion, visit IDYLLWILD.  From Palm Springs, it is a short 1 hour drive up a scenic, windy mountain road, where you will find fresh air, hiking trails, and quaint restaurants and shops.  About 70 miles or 1 hour and 20 minutes from Palm Springs is LAKE ARROWHEAD.  With an elevation of 5,174 feet located in the San Bernandino Mountains surrounding Lake Arrowhead Reservoir.  Enjoy year-round activities, such as, camping, fishing, hiking, golfing, skiing, ice skating, and much more.  Another year-round mountain destination is BIG BEAR - a short 1 hour drive from Palm Springs, you will find a small, laid back village with an elevation of 7000 feet in the San Bernardino Mountains. Summer activities include swimming at the local beach, boat tours, canoeing and kayaking, jet skiing, and the popular hipline...to name a few activities.  And of course Winter activities are plentiful.
